
The FIP XV European Polo Championship came to a close with a true celebration of the sport at Sowiniec Polo Club in Poznań, Poland. Over nearly two weeks, players, horses, and fans enjoyed top-class polo in an environment that combined excellent fields, strong organization, and a festive atmosphere that drew large crowds. The final was the highlight of this success, as Spain claimed the title with a 7.5–4 victory over Switzerland.
The deciding match featured Spain with Juan Manuel Marulanda, Sebastián Luque, Juan Torroba, and Alfonso Figar, against Switzerland’s Fabio Meier, Luca Meier, Patricio Gaynor Jr., and Tomás Ruiz Guiñazu. Switzerland led the opening chukker 2–1.5 and went into halftime ahead 3–2.5, but Spain fought back strongly. Four unanswered goals in the last chukker sealed the win for the Spanish side. In the semifinals, Spain had edged Poland 5–4.5, while Switzerland defeated Italy 9–5 to reach the final.
The third-place playoff saw Poland secure bronze on home soil, defeating Italy 6.5–4. In the classification matches, the Netherlands took fifth place with a 7–5 win over Germany, while Hungary narrowly overcame France 6–4.5 to finish seventh.
